What is DSL? DSL is a generic abbreviation for the many flavors of DSL or "Digital Subscriber Line" Technology. DSL refers to the technology used between a customers
premises and the telephone company, enabling higher speeds then were traditionally available.
How does DSL connections compare to
Internet from my cable company? Typical cable television connections require your Internet traffic to travel over the same cable
accessible to all homes and businesses between your location and the cable company facility, jeopardizing both the speed and the security of your connection.
Is DSL as secure as traditional lines? Absolutely. There is no
security difference between DSL and traditional lines such as Dial-up, ISDN, frame relay or T-1.
Are there any limitations to my ability to
get DSL service? Yes. You must be within a certain distance from a Aquila POP (point of presence) to receive DSL. One of our
sales team members can quickly calculate DSL availability at your location.
What hardware does my computer need? You will need a 10Base-T adapter with which to connect to the external DSL device. Typically the DSL device is implemented as bridge, router or both.
